2024 will show the truth that everyone has been asking for: What will occur to carriers and brokers in 2024? Many are a little worried about what can happen as the pricing power is coming back into it’s own form, after a disastrous 2023. Additionally, there are indications that show how there will be a relatively dramatic change in the rather volatile landscape as it remains. Of course, there is a likelihood that the first quarter will be pretty tough for freight. Plus, the final months that come up for 2023 will show more pain and trouble for the trucking sectors, as seen by a quantifiable amount of bankruptcy in both areas. Such factors led to an environment where shippers are able to show positive results. According to a Q1 2024 Freight Sentiment Indexes that was provided by Freight Waves, there’s been a huge surge in shipping confidence, where the 9.79 climbed to a record-high 13.57 in the last quarter.

Based on the data, what could we be experiencing than none other but a return to grace?

Such freight sentiment indexes show a scale between negative 100 and positive 100, in which high numbers show positive sentiment or growth while lower numbers are completely indicative of contraction.

In general, 2023 was the most official year of recalibration, since the pandemic has significantly minimized. Of course, it seems to look like it’ll make a big comeback in 2024. Demand continues strong, though consumers are somewhat gloomy.
